Proyecto mexicano que busca promover la conservación de las aves. A partir del diseño y elaboración de pajareras, comederos y bebederos para aves silvestres en áreas urbanas, propiciamos la cultura de aves en libertad mediante acciones simples, prácticas y al alcance de cualquier persona.
En colaboración con reconocidos artesanos mexicanos, creamos piezas únicas elaboradas en barro y cerámica de alta temperatura para aves en libertad.
Twenty years ago, in a small workshop set up at home, we drew, measured and cut wooden boards to build birdhouses and spend a nice summer with our children. They painted and decorated them freely. It was a great experience.
Within two weeks of placing the bird houses on our garden wall, an unusual activity caught our attention; the sparrows that regularly came down to drink water and bath in our small garden fountain, started coming in and out of the small holes of the bird houses, carrying leaves, grass and feathers. Shortly after, the chicks chirping and tweeting inside the bird houses became evident. We were excited to see how the little birds appeared with their yellow peaks wide open and demanding to be fed. It was incredible!
The bird houses were inhabited on several occasions during that year.
After the breeding season was over, we removed the houses to clean and maintain them. It was amazing to find inside, the nests that the birds had made with such care.
We put the birdhouses back up on the wall and in the following breeding season, they were reoccupied again, and so on every year.
Over time, the wood houses deteriorated, and it came occurred to us we could make them of clay or stoneware, they would last much longer. We began sketching what came to mind, and we looked for a workshop that could make them. Our first encounter with clay was a bit frustrating because not all the models that we designed could be actually manufactured.
We signed up at a ceramics school in order to study, and that's how we understood how this wonderful material behaves.
This is how La Pajarería was born La Pajarería We are a company that creates beautiful pieces that aid in the conservation of wild birds in urban areas.
Now, La Pajarería works in collaboration with artisans from different regions in Mexico, contributing to keeping traditional techniques alive and handcrafting beautiful and unique objects. únicos hechos por manos mexicanas.
